Payroll Team Leader | 6-Month Contract | London | Hybrid
I'm currently working with a large and well-respected higher education organisation to recruit an experienced Payroll Team Leader for an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead a busy payroll team within a large, complex organisation, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll delivery while driving continuous improvement.
The role offers:
- £23.11 per hour PAYE / £31.55 per hour Umbrella
- Hybrid working (London)
- Initial 6-month contract
- Immediate August start

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a payroll team
- Managing end-to-end monthly payroll processing
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements
- Supporting payroll system testing and process improvements
- Producing payroll reports and management information
- Working closely with HR and Finance stakeholders
We're keen to hear from candidates with:
- ✅ Payroll Team Leader, Payroll Supervisor or Senior Payroll experience
- ✅ Team management experience
- ✅ End-to-end payroll processing knowledge
- ✅ Experience using integrated HR/Payroll systems
- ✅ Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance
- ✅ Experience working within a large, complex organisation
