Payroll Team Leader
We’re looking for a confident and organised People Team Leader to lead the day-to-day delivery of accurate and timely pensions services within our HR and Payroll Delivery team.
This is a home-based role supporting customers across the UK, with responsibility for ensuring high standards of service delivery, compliance, quality assurance, and team performance.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of pensions services, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and to a consistently high standard.
- Lead, support, and develop a team of Pension Administrators, including managing workloads, providing day-to-day guidance, holding regular 1:1s, and monitoring team outputs.
- Ensure processes, procedures, quality assurance, and validation checks are in place and followed in line with pension scheme requirements, statutory obligations, and relevant legislation.
- Manage submissions for LGPS and Teachers’ Pension schemes, including monthly and annual returns, quality checks, and timely resolution of errors.
- Monitor team performance against service level agreements, individual targets, and team objectives, addressing any concerns and ensuring consistent service delivery.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers, ensuring queries and issues are resolved effectively and professionally.
- Use CRM dashboards and reporting tools to monitor workloads, track performance, and provide updates to the management team. Maintain procedure manuals and training materials to support consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across the team. Lead or contribute to service reviews, process improvements, user acceptance testing, projects, and forums to support service enhancements.
About You
- Experience of iTrent or Oracle Services Cloud
- Experience supervising or leading an operational team, including supporting performance, development, and service delivery.
- A strong customer service focus, with experience building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of pensions processes, practices, policies, and procedures, with the ability to interpret and apply these accurately.
- Strong numeracy, literacy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Good ICT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and professionally to customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- The ability to prioritise, organise, and manage workloads effectively, while remaining calm and focused under pressure.
