PCB Designer Opportunity at BAE Systems
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced PCB Designer to join their contract team on-site in Cowes, Isle of Wight. This is a great opportunity to work on complex PCB designs supporting advanced electronic systems within a specialist design environment.
The Role
You’ll be part of a small team delivering a steady flow of designs, taking work from early concept through to full manufacturing release. Responsibilities include:
- PCB design and layout from concept through to manufacturing data packs
- Schematic interpretation, creation, and ongoing management
- Cadence Allegro schematic capture, layout, constraints, and library/toolset support
- Close collaboration with electronic, mechanical, and manufacturing teams (DFM/DFT focus)
- Design and peer review support
- Component library management (symbols/parts, databases, toolsets)
- Updates/modifications to legacy PCB designs
- Supporting and training engineers/designers around schematic tools, constraints files, and board design best practice

Skills and Experience Needed
- Expert knowledge of Cadence Allegro
- Strong background in large, complex multi-layer / multi-substrate PCB designs (up to 24 layers, 2000+ components)
- Experience designing for controlled impedance, high-speed digital, RF, mixed-signal, high current, and FPGA technologies
- Knowledge of blind, buried, and filled vias
- Experience with flex PCBs and interconnecting assemblies
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IPC-610
- HND (or higher) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)

Contract Details
- Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight (full time on-site)
- Duration: 6 months
- Rate: £51.60 PAYE or £69.65 Umbrella
- Clearance: BPSS + SC eligibility
- Restrictions: subject to ITAR and UK eyes only
