PCB Technologist

Take ownership of complex electronics investigations and build specialist expertise in component failure analysis. This is an opportunity to broaden your technical capability, work across the full product lifecycle and develop skills that can accelerate your engineering career within the defence sector.

Essential Requirements

  • British Citizen with eligibility to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance
  • Experience fault finding circuit card assemblies to component level using electronic test equipment
  • Understanding of electronic design principles and printed circuit board manufacturing processes
  • Ability to manage technical work packages while balancing cost, quality and schedule
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders in an engineering or manufacturing environment

Salary and Rewards

Up to £40,500 depending on experience, plus an annual performance related bonus of up to £2,500.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Investigate component failures through hands on fault finding, laboratory testing and root cause analysis
  • Support the development of advanced failure analysis processes, methods and equipment
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing and test teams to resolve complex technical issues
  • Contribute to the improvement of printed circuit board and circuit card assembly technologies
  • Produce technical reports and support the development of engineering standard
  • Collaborate with UK and international stakeholders on technology and process improvement activities

Your Experience

  • Fault diagnosis and repair of electronic assemblies at component level
  • Experience using electronic test and measurement equipment
  • Knowledge of printed circuit boards, electronic components and manufacturing techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to deliver work to agreed timescales
  • Analytical approach to problem solving and technical investigations

Location and Setup

Stevenage, hybrid working with typically three days per week on site.
