PCB Technologist

Location: Stevenage

Salary: Up to £40,500 depending on experience

Working model: Onsite

I’m working with a leading defence technology organisation looking for a PCB Technologist to join a specialist electronics engineering team, with a particular focus on component failure analysis and technical problem-solving.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work with complex electronic hardware across development, production and in-service environments, combining laboratory investigation, fault finding and root cause analysis.

The role

You’ll support the development of component failure analysis capability, working closely with electronics engineers, manufacturing teams and technical specialists to understand why hardware has failed and help identify appropriate solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating electronic component and circuit card failures through hands-on fault finding and laboratory analysis
  • Using electronic test equipment to diagnose issues down to component level
  • Working with design, manufacturing, test and component engineering teams to identify root causes
  • Supporting the introduction and evaluation of new failure analysis processes, techniques and equipment
  • Working with internal and external technical partners and suppliers, including occasional international travel
  • Applying knowledge of PCB and circuit card assembly manufacturing processes when assessing failures
  • Producing technical reports and contributing to engineering standards and documentation
  • Managing technical work packages while balancing cost, quality and delivery timescales
  • Building your technical knowledge through internal and external training

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
