A newly established, private-equity-backed upstream energy platform is seeking an Associate to join its lean and highly experienced London-based team.

The company has significant capital available to acquire and build a substantial international upstream oil and gas portfolio. It is actively evaluating opportunities across multiple jurisdictions.

This is not a conventional corporate-development role within an established operator. The successful candidate will work directly with the senior leadership team at an early stage in the platform’s development, helping to identify, evaluate, finance and execute acquisitions—and then shape the portfolio as the business grows.

The position offers unusually broad principal-side exposure, genuine involvement in investment decisions and the opportunity to help build an upstream company from the ground up.

The Role

The successful candidate will support the evaluation and execution of upstream acquisitions and other strategic transactions. Responsibilities will include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
