SESSION VOLUNTEER | YOUNG ADULT SOCIALS & WELLBEING
WHO WE ARE.
THE PERCENTERS is a young-adult-led registered charity for 18-26 year olds who may feel isolated, stuck, overlooked or left behind.
We started because too many young adults fall into the gap between getting on with everything alone and receiving formal support. We call them the lost percents.
Our sessions feel more like real life than a service. A walk in the park. Coffee and a chat. Board games. Online gaming. A relaxed social. An honest conversation about something young adults are rarely taught.
Through sessions including WALK IT OUT., COFFEE & YAP., BOARD GAMES SESH. and PERCENTERS SOCIALS, we give people somewhere comfortable to start reconnecting.
People can arrive alone, stay for a little while, talk loads or barely at all. Nobody has to disclose what they are going through or pretend to be confident to belong.
Everything is free, low-pressure, activity-first and intentionally non-clinical. We are psychologically grounded and work alongside local NHS teams, social prescribers, charities and community spaces, but what people experience is human: somewhere to be, something to do and people who genuinely get it.
WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY DO.
As a Session Volunteer, you help make that atmosphere real.
You might be the person who says hello to someone who nearly turned around at the door, gets a board game started before the awkward silence kicks in, or walks beside someone who does not quite know what to say yet.
Depending on the session, you could:
- Welcome people and help them settle in without putting them on the spot.
- Join in with the walk, game, activity or conversation.
- Help introduce people and make it easier for everyone to feel included.
- Notice when somebody is hovering at the edge and gently make space for them.
- Help with basic setup, refreshments, materials and packing away.
- Listen when someone wants to talk, while understanding that you do not need to fix everything.
- Pass any concerns to the session lead rather than carrying them by yourself.
- Share your thoughts afterwards and help us keep making sessions better.
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You will not be expected to act as a therapist, diagnose anyone, provide crisis support or manage a difficult situation alone. You will always have clear boundaries and support from the team.
YOU MIGHT BE OUR KIND OF PERSON IF…
- You are warm, down-to-earth and easy to be around.
- You can listen without immediately turning the conversation into advice.
- You understand that quieter people do not need to be forced “out of their shell” to be included.
- You are comfortable around people with different personalities, backgrounds and experiences.
- You are reliable. If you agree to attend a session, we need to know you will be there.
- You are happy to learn, ask when you are unsure and work within clear boundaries.
You do not need a polished charity CV, a psychology degree or years of volunteering experience.
Experience in psychology, counselling, youth work, community work, events or peer support can be useful, but it is not essential. Personal experience of feeling isolated, struggling with your wellbeing or finding your feet as a young adult can also bring valuable understanding, but you will never be expected to disclose your own story.
We care far more about how you make people feel.
WHAT WE WILL GIVE YOU.
- A proper induction covering the role, safeguarding and boundaries.
- Support from a session lead during every session.
- The chance to choose sessions that suit your interests, confidence and availability.
- Space to reflect and debrief after sessions.
- Opportunities to gradually develop your confidence in welcoming, hosting and facilitating.
- Practical experience within a growing young-adult charity.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You do not need to attend every event or lead a whole session straight away. We will get to know you, talk about what feels manageable and find the right place for you within the team.
INTERESTED?
You do not need to send us a corporate answer about why you are “passionate about making a difference.”
Tell us what made you stop scrolling, why this kind of space matters to you and which of our sessions sounds most like your thing.
If you are thinking, “I would probably be good at this, but I don’t have the proper experience,” we would still really like to hear from you.
OUR PARTNERS & COMMUNITY NETWORK.
THE PERCENTERS has grown through real relationships across health, social prescribing, the voluntary sector and our local community.
We work alongside, receive referrals from or deliver with a growing network that includes NHS Integrated Neighbourhood Teams in Sutton, Primary Care Network Mental Health Practitioners, NHS Talking Therapies, GPs and social prescribers, Community Action Sutton, Volunteer Centre Sutton, The Fantastic Freddie Foundation, PFA Hub, Oru Sutton, Unity Junction, Train Together London, Tiempo Lounge and Radio St Helier.
Our delivery has also been supported through the Sutton Community Fund.
These relationships help young adults discover us through people and places they already trust. They allow us to reach those who might otherwise be missed and connect relaxed community spaces with more intentional support when somebody needs it, while keeping the experience of coming to THE PERCENTERS human, relatable and free from the feel of a formal service.
