Security Testing Consultant (Contract) | Inside IR35 | Fully Remote
Day rate: £650 - £700 per day (Inside IR35)
Location: Fully remote (UK) - One Day every quarter on London Site
Duration: 6 Months
Clearance: SC Clearance Required
About the role
We're looking for an experienced Security Testing Consultant to join our client's Security Testing Capability on a contract basis. You'll be embedded in the team, working at the direction of the Security Testing Capability Lead, delivering hands-on security testing while helping to shape and mature the testing function.
Key responsibilities
- Scope, conduct and support security assessments, penetration testing and other non-functional security testing, recording and sharing findings clearly
- Produce formal technical proposals and reports for each test using standard templates
- Review scopes and, where CHECK testing is required, manage engagement with third-party pen testers
- Provide vulnerability management and continual security compliance expertise across on-premise and cloud-based solutions
- Lead assessments of threats and vulnerabilities and identify deviations from acceptable baselines
- Research and assess new threats and security alerts, recommending remedial actions
- Develop a Secure by Design framework for security testing, documenting testing approaches against control sets
- Contribute to Security Principles, Policies and Technical Standards
- Aid the development of the Security Testing Strategy and its outputs
- Create processes, playbooks and documentation sets to support the Security Testing capability
- Help build team capability and establish testing methodologies
- Work with project managers and programme leads as a subject matter expert, giving testing guidance and advice
- Act as an escalation point for security testing related incidents
- Communicate threats, vulnerabilities and risk to stakeholders clearly and concisely

About you

- Proven experience performing internal security testing, with relevant qualifications or equivalent experience (e.g. CREST, CHECK, OSCP or similar)
- Strong background in vulnerability management and security compliance across on-premise and cloud environments
- Experience scoping tests and managing third-party penetration testers
- Excellent report writing and stakeholder communication skills, able to explain technical risk to non-technical audiences
- Experience building or improving testing methodologies, playbooks and standards
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a large government environment
