Pensions Solicitor (1-4PQE)

Location: Edinburgh

Team: L500 Ranked Pensions Team

Salary: Highly Competitive + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

The Role & The Work

When you join this top-quality Pensions team in Edinburgh, you will work alongside highly regarded Pensions specialists on a broad range of sophisticated matters for an impressive client base of trustees and employers.

The team is recognised at the highest levels of both the L500 and Chambers, with a strong reputation not just in Scotland but the UK market. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the wider UK Pensions practice, giving you exposure to a genuinely national team while remaining part of a growing and collaborative Edinburgh office.

The work covers the full spectrum of pensions advice across both defined benefit and defined contribution schemes, including advising trustees and employers on scheme governance, funding, restructuring, transactions and wider advisory matters. The team also has experience across group pensions, master trusts, insurance products, including buy-ins and buy-outs, longevity products and other innovative structures.

One of the real strengths of the practice is the breadth of expertise within the team. Unlike many Pensions practices, contentious pensions work is also handled within the department, meaning you’ll benefit from exposure to potential litigation issues and a genuinely rounded approach to client advice.

This is a key period of growth for this team, with a real commitment to developing its junior and mid-level lawyers. You’ll be given high-quality work from the outset, supported by experienced Pensions lawyers and encouraged to take ownership of your development as you progress.

Your Experience

  • Scottish Qualified Solicitor with 1-4 PQE and strong experience gained in a Pensions practice
  • A clear commitment to building a long-term career within Pensions
  • Experience advising trustees, employers or other pensions stakeholders
  • Strong technical, drafting and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • Commercially minded with the ability to provide clear, practical advice
  • Well organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ambitious, collaborative and keen to continue developing your Pension’s career within a market-leading team
