Overview
We’re looking for a Pension Payroll Associate to join Gallagher’s Pension Payroll team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with payroll or tax experience who takes pride in working accurately, meeting deadlines and delivering exceptional service to clients and members.
You’ll be joining an established, supportive team where collaboration is genuinely valued. Every team member has a mentor, and there is a strong emphasis on supporting one another, sharing knowledge and helping each other succeed. In this role, you’ll be responsible for processing pension payrolls in line with legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring that all payments, submissions and adjustments are completed accurately and on time.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Process allocated pension payrolls accurately and on time
- Ensure all HMRC submissions, including nil returns, are completed within deadline
- Check BACS submissions and resolve any issues
- Process BACS recall requests and BACS rejects, working with Treasury and Admin teams
- Set up overseas banking for pensioners living abroad
- Manually calculate advance payments outside payroll where needed
- Process returned payments, recalculations and year-to-date adjustments
- Handle P60 and payslip requests
- Support tax year-end activity
- Deal with pension statement requests
- Take ownership of incoming emails each day
- Complete required training and maintain training logs
- Attend meetings and work closely with Admin teams, Consultants and third parties
- Follow corporate policies and procedures, including reconciliations, authorisations and evidence requirements

About You
Ideally we are looking for you to have gained exposure to payroll and/or manual tax calculations.
- Good Maths and English GCSEs/GCEs, or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail and a logical approach to problem-solving
- The ability to manage your workload and meet tight deadlines
- Confident communication skills and a strong customer service mindset
- A proactive, self-motivated attitude
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and spreadsheets
- A flexible approach and the confidence to suggest improvements
This role can either be hybrid working in our Bristol office or fully remote within the UK
