About the Role

Are you an experienced and commercially minded Scheme Actuary looking for a new challenge within a smaller firm where you will be given a portfolio of your own schemes to run? Then this exciting new opportunity could be the role for you to work with a portfolio of Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes, providing high-quality actuarial advice to trustees and sponsoring employers while playing a key role in helping schemes navigate an evolving pensions landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Scheme Actuary to a portfolio of DB pension schemes.
  • Lead actuarial valuations and funding negotiations.
  • Advise trustee boards and sponsoring employers on funding strategy, investment considerations and risk management.
  • Support clients with journey planning, buy-in, buyout and DB endgame strategies.
  • Prepare and review actuarial reports, funding updates and trustee papers.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent client-facing and communication skills.

Essential

  • Qualified Actuary (FIA or equivalent).
  • Significant experience working within Defined Benefit pensions.
  • Experience acting as, or supporting, a Scheme Actuary.
  • Strong understanding of UK pensions legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in risk transfer, buyout, consolidation or endgame projects.
