Retirement and Wellbeing Consultant – Surrey or Greater London – Hybrid – Permanent 37.5 hours per week – £60,000 - £65,000 per annum

Our client is seeking a Retirement and Wellbeing Consultant to support the governance and day-to-day management of UK and European defined benefit (DB) pension arrangements.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of DB pension governance, working closely with trustees, advisers, and internal stakeholders while also supporting wider retirement, employee share plan, and financial wellbeing initiatives.

Working Patterns and location – Hybrid – 2-3 days on site per week

The Key Responsibilities of a Consultant Global Retirement and Financial Wellbeing:

  • Act as first point of contact for UK DB pension trustees, advisers, and employee queries.
  • Oversee day-to-day DB pension operations, including adviser coordination and service delivery tracking.
  • Attend trustee meetings for the Atkins Pension Plan and manage agenda and business planning.
  • Maintain governance documentation, records, and trackers to support internal reporting.
  • Support global retirement, share plan, and financial wellbeing activities through data gathering and coordination.
  • Liaise with Corporate Finance, Treasury, Legal, and Payroll teams to manage information flow.
  • Assist with year-end accounting, board assurance inputs, and governance meeting preparation.
  • Provide analytical and administrative support for M&A due diligence and pension integration tasks.

Below is a list of Key Skills required for a Consultant Global Retirement and Financial Wellbeing, however you will not be expected to have everything:

  • Experience working with UK trust-based defined benefit pension schemes in an operational or governance capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of DB pension regulatory requirements and compliance obligations.
  • Experience coordinating and managing relationships with external pension advisers and administrators.
  • Ability to manage trustee meeting processes including agendas, actions, and budget approvals.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience producing governance and reporting documentation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across finance, legal, and HR functions.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and drive activities forward without close supervision.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • Prior exposure to DB pensions administration, either directly or through an oversight role.
  • Experience supporting scheme risk transfer projects or scheme wind-up activities.
  • Experience working in a multinational environment with exposure to HR committee reporting.
  • Global pensions accounting coordination experience.
  • Familiarity with Employee Share Ownership Plans (ESOP) or financial wellbeing programmes.
