The role

We have an opportunity to join our Payroll and Pensions Team as a pensions officer. You will be key to the effective delivery of this vital function at the University of Bristol, one of the 3 largest employers in the city.

As part of the Finance Services division, the Payroll and Pensions team play an essential role within the division and ensure 10,000 University staff are paid each month. This team ensure that the pensions schemes are administered and that University staff are supported on our pension schemes.

What will you be doing?

  • Deliver excellent customer service as an employee-facing team ensuring that all individuals are treated courteously and professionally.
  • Deal with enquiries from staff and other outside bodies, including more complex queries judging when to forward onto a more senior member of the Pensions Team.
  • Ensure that pension knowledge is kept up to date so that the schemes can be operated correctly.
  • Demonstrate an open attitude to change including opportunities to enhance performance.
  • Use Excel and other software to collate and analyse data ensuring accuracy.

You should apply if

  • Previous experience working in a high-volume processing team and able to work as part of a team
  • Ability to plan and prioritise (allocated) workload and take ownership of the same
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
  • Proficient in the use of the email
  • Previous experience of working in a pensions team
  • Awareness of pension legislation
  • Demonstrable experience of consistently providing good customer service

Salary: £28,778 - £32,080 per annum pro rata
