Pensions Service Team Leader
Location: Royal Mail, Pond Street, Sheffield, S98 6HR - we expect a minimum of 4 days' office attendance

We’re looking for an experienced people leader to join our Pensions Services Centre and lead the Retirements team responsible for supporting active and deferred members of the Royal Mail Pension Plan.
This is an exciting opportunity to manage and develop a team of Pensions Administrators, ensuring workloads are effectively managed and members receive an accurate, efficient and professional pensions administration service. You’ll monitor performance, maintain compliance with Trustee requirements and agreed service levels, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and the overall member experience.
You’ll join a large and established pensions operation, with the opportunity to develop your leadership experience and build broader knowledge across other areas of Pensions Services, including the Royal Mail Collective Pension Plan.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading, motivating and developing a team of Pensions Administrators to deliver an accurate, efficient and customer-focused service
- Planning and allocating workloads to ensure appropriate team coverage and delivery against agreed service levels
- Monitoring team performance and outputs, using data to identify trends and drive improvements
- Holding regular one-to-ones and providing ongoing coaching, mentoring and support
- Ensuring processes and controls are operating effectively, and services remain compliant with Trustee, legislative and regulatory requirements
- Identifying and delivering efficiencies, challenging existing ways of working and supporting continuous improvement
- Ensuring accurate calculation and payment of pension benefits in accordance with Royal Mail Pension Plan rules
- Building effective relationships with colleagues, Trustees, suppliers and other internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting the delivery of operational and financial targets.

What We’re Looking For
You’ll be a confident and supportive leader who can motivate others, manage performance and maintain high standards within a structured service environment.
We’re looking for:
- Strong people leadership experience, with the ability to lead, coach, mentor and develop others
- Experience managing team workloads, performance and service delivery
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of pensions administration and the principles of working within a regulated environment
- A customer-focused approach, with the ability to deliver against demanding timescales and agreed service levels
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Good analytical and numeracy skills, with experience using performance information to improve efficiency
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to challenge existing processes and support continuous improvement.
Desirable Skills And Experience
- Previous experience within pensions administration
- Experience working in a shared services environment
- Knowledge of UK pensions, particularly Defined Benefit or Career Average schemes
- A relevant professional pensions qualification, such as a Certificate or Advanced Diploma in Pensions Administration, PMI qualification or equivalent.
