What We're Looking For
As a People Advisor, you'll work closely with our People Business Partners and wider People Team to support our UK Equity shops, providing practical, commercially minded People advice that helps our managers and teams succeed. You'll be a trusted partner on employee relations matters, ensuring our people processes are followed consistently, fairly, and in line with employment legislation and Pret's values.
You'll take ownership of HR administration and documentation, maintain strong compliance standards, and help deliver a positive experience for our teams. Most importantly, you'll bring energy, curiosity, and a genuine passion for people, helping us create an environment where everyone can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Advisory
- Provide practical HR advice to General Managers (GMs) and Operations Managers across Pret’s UK Equity Shops on employee relations, performance, attendance, conduct, capability, disciplinary and grievance matters.
- Support employee relations cases, investigations and formal processes, ensuring fair, consistent and appropriate outcome
- Identify people risks early, support managers to resolve issues and escalate complex matters where required.
Compliance & Risk
- Provide guidance on employment legislation, HR policies, procedures and best practice.
- Support consistent application of HR policies and processes across the Equity Shop estate.
- Support HR compliance, audit and governance activity and highlight emerging people risks and trends.

Manager Capability
- Coach managers to build confidence and accountability in managing people and addressing issues early.
- Provide practical support with performance, attendance, conduct and difficult conversations.
- Deliver HR training, policy briefings and guidance as required.
People Processes & Continuous Improvement
- Support the delivery of HR policies, processes and key People initiatives.
- Identify practical improvements to simplify, streamline and improve HR processes and employee experience.
- Contribute to wider People projects and initiatives.
Reporting & Insight
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations and people data.
- Use people data and ER trends to identify risks, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Share relevant insights and recommendations with People Business Partners and operational stakeholders.
Culture & Employee Experience
- Help create a fair, inclusive and respectful workplace aligned to Pret’s values.
- Build trusted relationships with managers and employees, providing an approachable and solutions-focused HR service.
- Support wider People priorities that enhance employee experience, engagement and culture.

The Pret interview journey
Step one: apply! Please don’t overly rely on the use AI, we want to get to know you, not a robot.
Then, if we move forward with your application, we’ll start the process with a 30-minute chat, so we can better understand your experience and skills. The next stage is to pop into our Head Office, where you’ll have a one-hour interview with the hiring team.
Those are the basics, but depending on the role, we might ask you to complete a task, spend time in our shops or meet someone else in the team.
