About The Role
Laing O'Rourke is looking for an experienced and proactive People Advisor to join our People team supporting the delivery of the landmark Hinkley Point C project.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects. Working in a dynamic, highly collaborative construction environment, you will provide trusted and commercially focused People support to project teams, managers and employees across the site.
As a People Advisor, you will be instrumental in delivering a high-quality People service, supporting managers to effectively manage their teams, whilst ensuring our people practices are aligned with Laing O'Rourke's values, policies and employment legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive and professional People advice and guidance to managers and employees across the Hinkley Point C project.
- Support managers with employee relations matters, including absence management, performance, conduct, capability, grievances and disciplinary processes.
- Coach and develop managers to build confidence and capability in managing people effectively.
- Support the implementation of People initiatives, projects and continuous improvement activities across the project.
- Work closely with the wider People team to ensure consistent and effective application of policies and processes.
- Maintain accurate People records and provide timely management information and reporting.
- Support workforce planning, mobilisation and demobilisation activities as required.
- Contribute to employee engagement and communication initiatives, helping to create a positive and inclusive working environment.
- Support organisational change and restructuring activity where required.
- Ensure all People activity is delivered in line with relevant employment legislation, company policies and project requirements.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the project, including operational managers and senior leaders.
- Identify trends and opportunities within People data and provide insight and recommendations to improve workforce performance and engagement.
- Promote Laing O'Rourke's culture, values, behaviours and commitment to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace.

About You
We are looking for someone who is confident working in a fast-paced, operational environment and enjoys partnering with managers to solve people-related challenges.
You Will Ideally Have
- Previous experience working in a People Advisor, HR Advisor or HR Business Partnering role.
- Experience providing employee relations advice across a diverse workforce.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Experience working within a construction, engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure or other project-based environment would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- A pragmatic, commercial and solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a demanding project environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The confidence to challenge constructively and provide credible, professional advice.
- A genuine passion for supporting people and creating a positive employee experience.

A CIPD qualification or working towards one would be desirable, although relevant experience and capability are equally important.
