We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated People Advisor to join our People Team here at Kiddie Capers Childcare.
The People Advisor plays a key role within the People Team, delivering people-focused support across the organisation to ensure Kiddie Capers Childcare operates smoothly and continues to be a great place to work. This involves providing support, advice and guidance to employees and managers on a variety of employment matters, with a focus on achieving positive resolutions.
In collaboration with the People Manager and the wider team, the People Advisor will help create a positive and engaged workplace environment, while supporting team learning and development.
The role is based at our Support Hub Office in between Hurstpierpoint and Burgess Hill, however there will be regular travelling to our sites across East and West Sussex to support the Nursery Teams.
Hours & Pay:
- 32-40 hours per week (4 or 5 days)
- £35,000 per annum (FTE) plus £3,000 car allowance

Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line advice to employees and managers on day-to-day employment matters
- Deliver day-to-day Employee Relations support across sites, aiming for early resolution and fostering a positive working environment
- Support managers through formal processes, including disciplinary and grievance procedures
- Offer advice on employment law concerning ER issues, ensuring risks are managed appropriately
- Support performance management processes by working with managers to deliver performance improvement plans when required
- Collate monthly absence data and work with managers to ensure the absence management procedures are correctly implemented in line with the Sickness Absence Policy
- Coach and guide managers to help them successfully manage and motivate their teams
- Support managers in developing their teams and conducting effective supervisions and performance reviews
- Manage flexible working requests, including supporting managers with related processes and meetings, ensuring they are managed in accordance with current legislation
- Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Offer advice and support on maternity, paternity, and parental leave, ensuring legal requirements are met, in collaboration with the People Coordinator
- Lead on Learning and Development projects, including creation and delivery of training courses across the business
- Work on ad-hoc tasks and projects as required by the People Manager/Head of People

There will be other duties and requirements associated with your job and, in addition, as a term of your employment you may be required to undertake various other duties as may reasonably be required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience at HR Advisory level, including Employee Relations
- Experience of or an interest in Learning & Development (desirable but not essential)
- CIPD level 5 qualification or above
- Experience of coaching and guiding managers
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build and maintain positive relationships
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Strong written communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Empathetic with the ability to understand and adapt to the needs of others
- Strong problem-solving skills and able to find creative solutions

- Organised and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- IT savvy with ability to learn new systems
- Builds and maintains relevant knowledge relating to role/industry
