Job Description
The People Advisor supports the Head of People to provide expert guidance and support on all People-related matters, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
This role acts as a key point of contact for managers and employees, delivering practical solutions to People issues and contributing to the development of a positive workplace culture. A strong understanding of the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment, onboarding, development, performance, and offboarding is essential for this role. With the recent implementation of the new People System, this role has the opportunity to work with the Head of People to further develop and streamline processes, optimise system utilisation, and maximise the benefits of the system to better support the business.
Employee Relations
- Provide clear and accurate advice to day-to-day queries from employees and managers
- Support the Head of People with investigations and hearings
- Advise managers on disciplinary, grievance, and performance management processes
- Confidently advising managers through complex and sensitive people situations
- Organise and attend monthly People department meetings across the business including taking meeting notes, providing advice, and closing off actions
- Coach and guide managers through the full employment lifecycle to maximise performance
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver good service
- Collaborate with line managers to coordinate probation reviews
- Complete salary reviews

Recruitment, Onboarding, and Offboarding
- Assist with internal hiring where required
- Identifying and driving improvements to our onboarding, offboarding, and induction processes to enhance the employee experience and operational efficiency
HR Administration
- Preparation of People reports
- Assist with BSR’s performance review process
- Dispose of personal information in line with HR retention period (in line with BSR policy guidelines)
- Support the Head of People with ad hoc projects
- Ensure accurate monthly payroll information
- Oversee the People inbox and ensure all queries are answered promptly

- Identify training needs and support the delivery of development programs

- Promote employee wellbeing initiatives and engagement activities
- Provide support to employees seeking guidance
- Coordinate monthly and seasonal employee events
Skill Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and best practice
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Able to challenge and influence managers
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proactive approach, with the ability to identify issues and take action rather than responding to requests
- Ability to work autonomously while knowing when to escalate issues
- High level of discretion
- CIPD Level 3 or equivalent experience
