Octric Semiconductor
Octric Semiconductor is a new name in the compound semiconductor foundry space. Its devices are used in mission-critical defence and commercial applications.
For over 25 years, we have delivered more than 1.5 billion devices shipped from our site to date.
Octric has ambitious plans to grow the company and expand with new products and applications, supported by a 10-year investment plan. Following significant investment from the UK Ministry of Defence, we now have a bright new path ahead. As part of an emerging semiconductor cluster in the northeast, we are focused on developing advanced technology for the next generation of semiconductors. We are looking to fill a number of exciting roles across device design, innovation, manufacturing, and reliability.
Located in Newton Aycliffe, UK, we occupy a 10,000 m² purpose-built Class 100 manufacturing facility fully equipped to produce state-of-the-art compound semiconductor products.

The People Advisor (Learning & Development)
The People Advisor (Learning & Development) plays a key role in delivering a proactive, business-focused People service, with primary responsibility for strengthening organisational capability through learning, manager development, employee engagement, and organisational improvement.
The role partners with managers to develop management capability, support employee development, and embed effective People practices that improve organisational performance.
Whilst this role has defined areas of primary accountability, it works in close partnership with the People Advisor(Operations) to deliver an integrated People service, strengthen organisational capability, and support the successful delivery of the People Strategy.

Primary Accountability: Learning & Development
- Identify organisational and departmental learning needs through collaboration with managers and analysis of People data.
- Coordinate learning programmes, development activities, and external learning providers.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Support the development of career pathways and development opportunities across the organisation.
- Maintain accurate learning records and monitor learning activity.
Primary Accountability: Line Manager Development
- Design and coordinate and deliver management development programmes.
- Support managers in developing effective people management skills.
- Provide guidance on performance conversations, development planning, and objective setting.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen manager capability.
- Escalate complex development needs to the People Team Manager where appropriate.
Primary Accountability: Engagement & Organisational Development
- Coordinate employee engagement activities and survey action planning.
- Support organisational development and business improvement initiatives.
- Support the embedding of organisational values and desired behaviours.
- Analyse People data to identify capability gaps and engagement trends.
- Contribute to organisational change initiatives that strengthen organisational effectiveness.
Primary Accountability – Performance & Talent
- Support the continuous improvement of the performance review process.
- Support managers in preparing for effective performance and development conversations.
- Contribute to talent reviews, career development, and succession planning activities.
- Analyse People data to identify capability trends and development opportunities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of People initiatives and recommend improvements.

Whilst this role has defined areas of primary accountability, it contributes across the wider employee lifecycle by supporting operational People activities, employee relations, and continuous improvement initiatives where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the People Advisor (Operations) to deliver an integrated People service.
- Support operational People activities where additional resource or expertise is required.
- Share knowledge, provide cover across the team, and contribute to shared People Team objectives.
- Develop knowledge and capability across the wider employee lifecycle.
- Build positive working relationships across the business and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Main Tasks
- Coordinate learning and development activities across the organisation.
- Identify learning needs through manager discussions, People data, and organisational priorities.
- Coordinate management development activities and learning interventions.
- Coordinate employee engagement activities and support departmental action planning.
- Support organisational development and business improvement initiatives.
- Support managers in preparing for performance and development conversations.
- Contribute to talent development and succession planning activities in partnership with the People Team Manager.
- Analyse People data and produce recommendations that strengthen organisational capability.
- Support operational People activities where required to ensure continuity of service.
- Contribute to People Team projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience
- Proven experience in a generalist People Team role including Learning & Development.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of current employment legislation.
- Knowledge and working experience of Performance Management Systems/Processes.
Personal Qualities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional integrity.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to handle conflicting priorities.
