Description
The People & Culture Advisor provides professional, proactive and commercially focused HR support across the Club. The role is responsible for managing employee relations matters, providing expert advice to managers and employees, and supporting the effective delivery of People & Culture policies, processes and people initiatives.
As People and Culture Advisor you will act as a trusted advisor to managers, helping to build management capability and ensure compliance with employment legislation across both permanent and casual workforces.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, capability and conduct matters.
- Support investigations, hearings and appeals, ensuring matters are managed fairly, consistently and in line with Club policies and employment legislation.
- Monitor employee relations trends and identify opportunities to proactively address recurring people issues.
- Contribute to the development of positive employee relations practices across the Club.
- Provide professional People & Culture advice and support to managers and employees across a broad range of HR matters.
- Support managers with probation reviews, performance conversations, attendance management and employee wellbeing initiatives.
- Coach and develop managers to build confidence and capability in people management.
- Build effective working relationships across the Club to promote best practice and a positive employee experience.
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on policies, procedures and people related issues.
- Assist with organisational change initiatives.
- Support the review, development and implementation of People & Culture policies, procedures and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, Club policies and governance requirements.
- Support the implementation of legislative changes and HR best practice.
- Contribute to the identification and management of people-related risks across the Club.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential
- Proven track record of providing professional HR advice across a broad range of employee relations matters.
- Managing disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and capability cases, including supporting managers through investigations and hearings.
- Sound understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Ability to build positive and effective relationships with managers and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and employment legislation consistently and pragmatically.
- Knowledge of employee lifecycle processes and workforce management practices.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a sport, hospitality, events, entertainment or membership-based environment
- Use of HR systems, workforce management tools and people reporting platforms
- Understanding of safeguarding requirements and best practice
- Supporting casual, seasonal or flexible workforces
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent professional experience
