The role
Join our team and help shape the future of the places we care for in South Wales Central.
This is not a one-size-fits-all placement. We will work with you to tailor a programme around your interests, giving you real responsibility and the opportunity to make a difference from day one.
You will be supported by a friendly, experienced team that is genuinely invested in your development. You could work with Miki as we collaborate with Public Service Boards to improve well-being and adapt to climate change. You might join Sally, Harriet and Will in taking a catchment-based approach to tackling water pollution, reducing flood risk and restoring our rivers. You could support Liz’s landscape-scale work to address the nature emergency and restore ecosystems, or work alongside Emily and our Head of Place in engaging with local politicians on issues that matter to our communities. There may also be opportunities to work with Laura on long-term planning for the forests we manage, balancing timber production, nature recovery, climate resilience and well-being. You will also learn how we approach complex challenges through systems thinking and service design.
Most importantly, you will not be doing this alone. You will be guided, mentored and encouraged by people who want to see you grow in confidence and develop skills that will help shape your career. We are equally interested in learning from your views, experiences and knowledge.
If you are curious, motivated and want your work to matter, we would love to hear from you.
As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.
To make an informal enquiry about this role, please contact Andy Robinson at andrew.robinson@cyfoethnaturiolcymru.gov.uk
Interviews will take place on 25/08/2026 through Microsoft Teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Y rôl
Ymunwch â'r tîm i helpu i lunio dyfodol y lleoedd rydym yn gofalu amdanynt yng Nghanol De Cymru.
Nid yw hwn yn lleoliad “un ateb yn addas i bawb”. Byddwn yn gweithio gyda chi i deilwra rhaglen o amgylch eich diddordebau, gan roi cyfrifoldebau go iawn i chi, a'r cyfle i wneud gwahaniaeth o'r diwrnod cyntaf un.
Byddwch yn cael eich cefnogi gan dîm cyfeillgar a phrofiadol sydd wirioneddol am fuddsoddi yn eich datblygiad. Gallech chi ddewis gweithio gyda Miki wrth i ni gydweithio â Byrddau Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus i wella llesiant ac addasu i newid yn yr hinsawdd. Neu efallai y byddwch am ymuno â Sally, Harriet a Will sy'n canolbwyntio ar fynd i'r afael â llygredd dŵr, lleihau perygl llifogydd ac adfer ein hafonydd fesul dalgylch. Gallech chi gefnogi gwaith Liz sy’n seiliedig ar dirwedd, i fynd i'r afael â'r argyfwng natur ac adfer ecosystemau, neu weithio ochr yn ochr ag Emily a'n Pennaeth Lle i ymgysylltu â gwleidyddion lleol ar faterion sy'n bwysig i'n cymunedau. Efallai y bydd cyfleoedd hefyd i weithio gyda Laura ar gynllunio hirdymor ar gyfer y coedwigoedd rydym yn eu rheoli, gan gydbwyso cynhyrchu pren, adfer byd natur, gwydnwch hinsawdd a llesiant. Byddwch chi hefyd yn dysgu sut rydym yn mynd i'r afael â heriau cymhleth yn sgil meddwl drwy systemau a dylunio gwasanaethau.
Yn bwysicaf oll, ni fyddwch chi’n gwneud hyn ar eich pen eich hun. Byddwch yn cael eich tywys, eich mentora a'ch annog gan bobl sydd am eich gweld yn tyfu mewn hyder ac yn datblygu
