People Business Partner
Location: Gravesend, with national travel to Essex, Maidenhead, Bedford, and Stockport. Would consider applicants at any Metcor Office.
Contract: Permanent, full-time | Reports to: Group People Director
Package: Competitive salary and car allowance
About the Role
Metcor Group is looking for an experienced People Business Partner to provide practical, commercially focused HR support across our growing divisions. Working closely with managers and senior leaders, you'll act as a trusted advisor on employee relations, workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance, policy, and people projects.
This is a hands-on, operationally embedded role suited to someone who enjoys balancing strategic people priorities with day-to-day HR delivery in a fast-paced, trade, and technical environment — including supporting the people side of the Group's continued growth and acquisitions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Act as the first point of contact for employee relations matters across the Group's divisions
- Provide pragmatic HR advice and guidance to managers across the company
- Lead on complex ER cases and provide sound employment law advice
- Coach and advise managers on handling ER cases effectively and fairly, building their confidence and capability
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and succession planning
- Stay current on legislation changes, ensuring internal policies and documents are reviewed and updated accordingly
- Lead or support HR project work, including HRIS improvements, engagement surveys, wellbeing initiatives, and D&I programmes
- Use people data and insight to identify trends and challenges, with recommendations for the business

About You
We're looking for a confident generalist HR professional who enjoys working close to the business, building strong relationships, and making a visible operational impact.
Essential Experience & Skills
- CIPD Level 5 qualified, or working towards Level 7
- Proven generalist HR experience in a Business Partner or standalone HR Advisor role
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and hands-on ER case management experience
- Confident communicator, able to influence, coach, and challenge at all levels
- Commercially minded, practical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing business

Desirable Experience & Skills
- Experience in a multi-site, operational, trade, construction, engineering, or technical environment
- Exposure to TUPE transfers, redundancy processes, or site-based workforce management
- Exposure to M&A activity, including TUPE and workforce integration following acquisitions
- Experience managing or mentoring junior HR colleagues
