People Business Partner

Salary: £51,500 per annum
Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract
Location: London, with one day a week in the office

Merrifield Consultants are working with a professional leadership body to recruit a People Business Partner for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The role will support senior leaders and line managers across the full range of people matters, from employee relations and workforce planning to organisational change, talent and engagement. It will suit an experienced HR professional who can give sound advice at a senior level while remaining closely involved in day-to-day delivery.

The Role

You will work closely with the Head of People Partnering, the Managing Director of a wholly owned subsidiary and colleagues across the wider People team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising senior leaders and managers on employee relations, performance, recruitment, talent and organisational change
  • Managing complex people matters, working with the People and Legal teams where needed
  • Supporting workforce and succession planning, including identifying skills and talent gaps
  • Coaching managers and helping them handle people matters confidently and fairly
  • Supporting changes to structures, contracts, ways of working and organisational culture
  • Using colleague feedback and people data to improve engagement and the wider employee experience
  • Contributing to improvements in HR systems, processes and services
  • Supporting shared people services, including payroll and pensions
  • Guiding less experienced colleagues within the People team

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
