Job Title: People Consultant
We are pleased to be recruiting a People Consultant to provide focused, professional employee relations support across the Trust, in delivering Mental Health and Community Nursing within Adult and Children Healthcare services across Northamptonshire.
About the Role
The People Consultant works as part of the People Consultancy Team and is responsible for supporting managers across Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust by delivering a proactive, pathway-focused employee relations service.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for managers on a broad range of workforce matters.
- Provide advice and guidance in line with Trust policies, employment legislation and best practice.
- Support the delivery of effective people management solutions.
- Enable managers to address workforce challenges and create positive working environments.

The Role
As a valued member of our friendly, supportive and professional team you will utilise your existing people and employee relations skills and knowledge to fulfil a varied role where every day is different, interesting and rewarding.
Key Requirements
- Work as part of the People Team.
- Quickly build relationships with managers through the Trust.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of employee relations case work (including sickness absence).
- Ensure pragmatic solutions are reached for employee relations issues.
- Advise on terms and conditions and support projects within the care delivery pathways.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates who ideally have:
- Experience of working in the NHS or a similar setting.
- A CIPD qualification or are working towards this.
- Some experience of delivering a people service and supporting cases.
- Great communication skills.
- A passion for people management and engagement.
- The ability to balance priorities and workload to meet the needs of a busy service.

About Us
The People team are based at St Mary’s Hospital, Kettering and work in a hybrid flexible way working from home as well as in the office, delivering timely advice utilising video conferencing and appropriate technology in order to fulfil the role requirements.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
