Matter. is a VC-backed Cleantech scale-up on a mission to transform industrial water filtration and protect the planet. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced People Coordinator to play a key role in supporting our people and helping us build an exceptional employee experience.
This is an opportunity to join a growing business where no two days are the same. You'll support every stage of the employee lifecycle, partner with managers across the business and help shape the People function as Matter continues to scale.
Job Title: People Coordinator
Location: Central Bristol, Hybrid
Salary Range: £28,810 - £33,990 per annum

The Opportunity
As Matter's People Coordinator, you'll play an important role in delivering a high-quality People service across the business.
Working closely with the Head of People, you'll support managers and employees through every stage of the employee lifecycle, ensuring our people processes are efficient, compliant and centered around delivering a positive employee experience.
This is a varied generalist HR role, giving you exposure to employee relations, payroll, HR operations, compliance, onboarding, benefits administration and international workforce administration. You'll also contribute to wider People projects as we continue building a modern, scalable People function.

Key Responsibilities
HR Operations
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
- Prepare contracts, offer letters and employee correspondence
- Support payroll and benefits administration
- Produce HR reports and people data
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities
- Ensure HR documentation remains compliant and up to date
Employee Relations
- Promote the consistent application of company policies and employment legislation
- Provide practical HR advice and guidance to managers
Compliance
- Support compliance with UK employment legislation
- Assist with policy reviews and internal communications
- Support audits and People reporting requirements
International Travel
- Coordinate employee travel administration
- Support visa, work permit and travel documentation processes
- Liaise with managers, employees and external providers to ensure travel compliance
Continuous Improvement
- Build strong relationships across the business
- Contribute to wider People initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience

You'll also play an important role in helping us build scalable HR processes that support our ambitious growth plans.
How you will grow
This role offers genuine breadth and development.
Working directly alongside our Head of People, you'll gain exposure to all aspects of operational HR, including employee relations, employment law, international mobility, payroll, organisational development and HR projects.

About You
Your essential experience
- Previous experience in an HR Assistant or People Coordinator role
- Good knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Experience supporting employee relations cases
- Strong organisational, planning and administrative skills
- Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Your desirable experience
- Experience supporting payroll administration
- Experience coordinating international travel or visa administration
- Experience working within a growing business
- CIPD Level 3 qualified or currently working towards qualification
