Role

We currently have a great opportunity for an ambitious and driven People and Development Advisor to join our team! This role will act as an ambassador of culture to ensure every Peoples employee feels valued and empowered to perform in their role. This generalist role will provide professional and pragmatic advice to support managers and employees and will be responsible in owning the full employee lifecycle whilst providing key effective and efficient people advice to the business.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Group People Director, you will support and drive the People activities for each of our 3 Scottish Dealerships. Responsibilities will include:

Talent And Acquisition

  • Take a proactive role in the implementation of the People and Development strategy.
  • Be the first point of contact for all recruitment needs, including advertising, offers of employment and supporting Management with interviews and selection where required. Actively work on initiatives to attract the best talent.
  • Advise and support managers on proactive and ongoing recruitment and selection strategies.
  • Provide a seamless onboarding experience which will include everything from co-ordinating new start induction plans with Managers, keeping in touch from day one, processing all new starter information and liaising with payroll, and touching base throughout the new start’s probation period.

Legislative Guidance And Employee Relations

  • Provide guidance on UK employment legislation and workplace practices.
  • Be the ER Specialist for all employment relations queries and case reviews, including grievance, performance management, attendance management and disciplinary issues.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems, practices and policies.
  • Support HR audits and compliance reviews and ensure HR policies, procedures and practices are applied consistently.
  • Build strong relationships with the Management and Leadership team to create a culture aligned to our values whilst contributing to the overall business strategy.
  • Work with Managers to implement proactive people strategies including engagement, talent and development, performance management and recruitment activities.
  • Review and analyse people data to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve performance, retention and recruitment, employee engagement and external employer branding.
  • Support and coach managers through formal and informal people matters
  • Support in the co-ordination of annual training and development planning for employees to ensure we are continually developing and upskilling our teams, meeting the business needs and encouraging a high-performance culture.
  • Champion People projects and change initiatives as part of the ongoing and wider People and Development strategy
  • Support wellbeing initiatives and promote a positive employee experience

What You Will Have

  • Strong knowledge and experience in an HR generalist role, including strong UK employment law knowledge
  • A genuine passion for people and development and a desire to make an impact in your role
  • Experience in delivering training workshops and the creation of materials
  • Knowledge of best-in-class HR practices and policies
  • The ability to influence and coach line managers
