£100,000 + Benefits

About the Role

A large, complex multi-site organisation is seeking a People Director to lead the next phase of its workforce, talent and employee experience strategy. This is a newly reshaped role with a mandate far broader than traditional HR.

The organisation has recognised that its future success will be driven by workforce capability, leadership strength and employee experience. As a result, this appointment will take ownership of workforce planning, rostering strategy, talent acquisition, leadership development, succession planning, employee engagement and employer brand across a significant national workforce.

A particular focus will be the creation of a Workforce Planning and Rostering Centre of Excellence, bringing greater consistency, visibility and long-term planning capability to a complex operational environment. Working closely with executive and operational leaders, you will help ensure that workforce demand, deployment, capability and future talent pipelines are aligned to organisational priorities and growth plans.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements

This role would suit an experienced People Director, HR Director, Workforce Director or Talent leader who has operated within a large, dispersed and operationally intensive organisation.

Whilst healthcare experience would be valuable, we are equally interested in leaders from sectors where workforce planning, scheduling, deployment and organisational capability play a critical role in operational performance. This might include healthcare, social care, retail, transport, hospitality, logistics, outsourcing or other large-scale service environments.

The successful candidate will bring experience of building organisational capability through workforce planning, talent and leadership development rather than simply leading traditional HR operations. They will be commercially minded, highly credible with senior stakeholders and able to translate strategic ambition into practical delivery.

About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity to shape the future workforce strategy of a major organisation and create a lasting impact on how it attracts, develops and retains talent.
