Robert Half is partnering with a fast-growing international technology business to recruit a People Manager for its London-based team.

The role: People Manager
Location: South London
Hybrid: 3 days in office & 2 days wfh
Up to £70 000 (DOE)

This is a broad and varied opportunity combining hands-on HR operations with genuine business partnering, supporting a diverse employee population across multiple business areas.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders and employees, whilst also taking ownership of employee relations, payroll, HR operations, people projects, systems and learning and development initiatives.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced HR Manager or HR Business Partner who enjoys working across both the strategic and operational sides of HR and wants to make a visible impact within a growing, international technology environment.

The Role

Reporting into the senior People leadership team, you will work closely with business leaders and the wider HR function, providing commercially focused HR advice and helping to shape and deliver the people agenda.

You will have significant exposure to senior stakeholders and will be expected to build credibility quickly, provide pragmatic advice and challenge where appropriate.

The role will support approximately 160 employees across multiple business areas, with the potential to take on additional people management responsibility as the function continues to grow.

Responsibilities

HR Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary HR point of contact for designated business areas and leadership teams.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and business leaders.
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused HR advice on people matters and organisational challenges.
  • Coach and support managers on engagement, performance and employee development.
  • Influence and challenge stakeholders to ensure effective and consistent people decisions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of business priorities and translate these into practical HR solutions.

Employee Relations

  • Manage a broad range of employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, grievance, absence and capability cases.
  • Support managers through investigations, formal meetings and employee relations processes.
  • Ensure cases are managed consistently, fairly and in accordance with company policies and UK employment legislation.
  • Identify potential people risks and provide appropriate advice and recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider People Team on more complex employee relations matters.

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle

  • Provide end-to-end HR support throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Oversee onboarding, induction, probation and offboarding processes.
  • Manage employee queries and ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation and systems.
  • Ensure a high standard of compliance, accuracy and attention to detail across HR processes.

Payroll & Benefits

  • Manage and oversee payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
  • Work closely with payroll providers and internal stakeholders to resolve queries and issues.
  • Support benefits administration and employee communications around reward and wellbeing.
  • Ensure HR and payroll data remains accurate and up to date.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll and reward processes.

HR Projects, Systems & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and contribute to HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support projects focused on improving HR processes, policies and ways of working.
  • Play an active role in the implementation and optimisation of HR technology and systems.
  • Use HR data and reporting to identify trends, improve efficiency and enhance the employee experience.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and introduce more effective ways of working.

Training & Development

  • Deliver employee inductions, manager training sessions and HR presentations.
  • Support leadership development and people management capability programmes.
  • Identify learning and development opportunities across the business.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Contribute to wider organisational development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as an HR Business Partner, HR Manager or People Manager.
  • Strong employee relations experience across a broad range of case types.
  • Previous responsibility for managing or overseeing payroll processes is essential.
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Strong understanding of the full employee lifecycle.
  • Experience balancing strategic HR activity with operational delivery.
  • Proven experience leading HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Confidence delivering inductions, training and presentations.
  • Strong HR systems capability and an interest in technology-driven improvements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • CIPD qualified or working towards qualification.
  • Experience within technology, software or a fast-growth environment would be advantageous.
