People Officer
Salary: £36,000 - £41,800 (DOE)
Contract type: Permanent
Working arrangement: Hybrid, 2 days on site
Location: South Wales / Hybrid
About the role
As People Officer, you will support the delivery of a high-quality HR and People service across the organisation.
Working closely with the People Manager, you will provide support across a wide range of people-related activities, including recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, equality, diversity and inclusion, governance, and HR administration.
You will be the first point of contact for many HR enquiries, ensuring colleagues receive accurate, timely, and professional support. The role involves managing key people processes, maintaining HR systems and records, supporting recruitment campaigns, coordinating learning activities, and assisting with organisational projects and initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working across a broad range of responsibilities within a supportive and collaborative team. The role requires occasional travel between office locations to build relationships, provide support, and attend meetings and events.

Key responsibilities
- Lead recruitment campaigns from advert through to appointment, working closely with hiring managers to attract and secure high-quality candidates.
- Manage the onboarding process, ensuring new employees receive a positive and effective introduction to the organisation.
- Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on a range of people-related matters.
- Support and manage employee relations casework, including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, capability, and performance processes.
- Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practice guidance.
- Ensure HR practices remain compliant with current employment legislation and organisational policies.
- Act as a key point of contact for HR enquiries, ensuring responses are accurate, timely, and consistent.
- Maintain HR systems, employee records, and people-related data, ensuring information is accurate and confidential.
- Produce reports and management information to support workforce planning and decision-making.
- Coordinate learning and development activities, including the administration of training programmes and employee development initiatives.
- Support equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives across the organisation.
- Contribute to People team projects and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the employee experience.

Essential experience
- Experience providing first-line HR or People support within a busy HR environment.
- Welsh language skills are essential for this role. You will need to be able to communicate in both English and Welsh in meetings, individually, and in public.
- Good understanding of HR processes, employment legislation, and HR best practice.
- Experience maintaining HR systems, employee records, and people-related data.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification, or equivalent relevant experience (Or willing to work toward).
