Who We Are
Fixatex Ltd is a family-run electrical services provider built on trust, teamwork, and technical excellence. Since 2000, we’ve proudly delivered high-quality electrical services to clients across London and the Southeast. Operating from our head office, warehouse, and purpose-built training centre in Hertford, we invest heavily in our people, our standards, and our future. We’re growing and we’re looking for skilled professionals who want to grow with us.
The Role
Our People team is built to operate as a lean, high-performing team, designed from the ground up with AI at the centre of how we work, not bolted on afterwards. As we build toward 2027, the goal is a People function that stays small by choice - where automation carries the operational load, and the team's time goes into the people initiatives that genuinely move the business forward.
We're looking for an AI-curious People Ops professional to take ownership of our people operations as they run today, and to build the automated systems that will run them tomorrow. This is a dual mandate role; from day one you're accountable for the operational processes as they currently stand while continuously looking for the parts of that work that can be templated, triggered or automated away entirely.
You'll run the operational machine behind our People function, covering the full breadth of the employee lifecycle. This will include onboarding, employee relations, implementing our performance framework through to offboarding. You will be the key holder to our HRIS system and outsourced HR suppliers and vendors.
You'll partner closely with our Talent Acquisition Specialist and People Leader throughout, since you will own and transform the processes that allow them to deliver. Success looks like the same volume of work getting done with steadily less manual effort, and the time that frees up going into higher-value people work rather than being absorbed by more admin.
This is a one-off career opportunity for a junior people person who wants to lead the AI implementation for a people function and take ownership for the operational delivery. You will be establishing what a progressive, AI-first people operations function looks like in practice.
This is a permanent, part-time role. You'll work 3 days a week, with three of those in our Hertford office on non-consecutive days.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Recruitment Support
- Accountable for the administrative activities associated with recruiting, that moves a warm candidate into a signed contract and a ready-to-start new hire, working in close partnership with TAS so recruitment never stalls on process or paperwork.
- Coordinating interview times with candidates, and booking these in the diary.
- Supporting the TA Specialist through the closing stages of a hire so candidates experience a fast, consistent process.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Employee Lifecycle & Documentation
- Every document that marks a change in someone's employment - starting, changing role, going on leave, leaving - will sit with you.
- You will own getting the information right and getting the documents out on time.
- Over time, you'll progressively turn one-off drafting into generated, review-and-send workflows.
Examples of the ground this covers:
- New starter setup, from paperwork through to BambooHR entry and induction as well as salary review letters, maternity/paternity and flexible working paperwork, and leaver documentation.
HR Systems & Data Integrity
- Own the accuracy and structure of our data in BambooHR, treating it as the single source of truth rather than a system that gets updated when someone remembers to.
- Building the reconciliation and validation habits (ideally automated ones) that catch differences before they become a problem.
- Own the relationship with our system vendors and continually explore their fit to our requirements.
Employee Relations & Casework
- Support employee relations casework, ensuring that issues get resolved in a timely and compliant manner.
- Coordinating investigation, disciplinary and grievance meetings and managing the relationship with Croner, ACAS and legal advisers.
Absence & Occupational Health
- Responsible for the operational monitoring and action associated with absence management.
- Running the rolling 365-day trigger report and flagging threshold breaches proactively with managers.
- Coordinating OH referrals, DSE assessments and the resulting actions.
Compliance, Policies & Records
- Responsible for completing pre-employment checks and ensuring the data is stored and logged accurately.
- Own the lifecycle of our policy and document library, so what's live is always current, correctly branded and compliant.
Examples include:
- Right to work and DBS checks tracked to completion, not just initiated.
- Training records and policy acknowledgements kept current.
- Updating our handbook and contracts to align with latest legislation.
Reporting & Insight
- Own the pipeline from raw HR data to insights for our monthly HR Board report.
- Populating the monthly KPI dashboard from source data rather than manual re-entry.
- Assembling the board report data pack ready for analysis and commentary.
Meetings, Projects & General Support
- Keep the operational cadence of the wider People function moving.
- Coordinating diaries across managers, advisers and stakeholders.
- Circulating agendas and turning meetings into tracked actions and owners.
- Maintaining project plans and trackers across active workstreams.

Qualifications:
This role is suitable for someone early in their People career who wants to own real operational responsibility fast, and who gets energy from process, tech and seeing the impact of their work. We're weighting this role in favour of high judgement, curiosity and a ‘product builder's’ instinct over a long HR track record. If you're excited about transforming an HR operating model to reflect automation and AI enablement, that's exactly the profile we're looking for.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience in HR, People Ops, recruitment or another detail-heavy administrative role.
- A genuine curiosity about AI and automation, and the initiative to go and try things without waiting to be told or shown.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort handling sensitive, confidential information with discretion.
- Clear, professional written communication.
- Working confidence with an HRIS (we use BambooHR) and everyday comfort with spreadsheets and data.
- The self-direction and discipline to manage a high volume of deadline-driven work independently.
Desirable
- Exposure to UK employment and compliance processes.
- Hands-on experience with automation or AI tools.
- CIPD Level 3 (or working towards), or an equivalent HR/People foundation.
- Experience pulling together reporting or dashboards from operational data.

- Supportive sick pay and wellbeing policies
- Ongoing training and development in our purpose-built training centre
- Clear progression opportunities

We are committed to ensuring our recruitment practices promote equal opportunities, embrace diversity, and prevent discrimination. Candidates are assessed fairly and consistently against the skills, experience, and competencies required for each role, ensuring that all appointments are made on merit.
