About Flock

Road accidents kill and injure people, damage vehicles, and cost businesses fortunes. But traditional insurance does nothing to prevent them - it just pays out claims when they happen. At Flock, we're changing that. Using telematics, AI, and real-time data, we proactively help our fleet customers prevent crashes. We obsessively focus on keeping drivers safe, and we put our money where our mouth is - paying out millions of pounds per year to fleets that get safer over time.

We were acquired by Admiral in May 2026. Now we combine the backing of the UK's leading motor insurer with startup energy and speed. We're growing fast with bigger plans than ever, and we're hugely optimistic that our approach will save many more lives in the decade ahead.

We're on a mission to make the world quantifiably safer. Join us!

About the role

You'll own the people engine room at Flock: the employee lifecycle, payroll input, benefits, the HRIS, the office and our in-person events. Your job is to design how a modern People function should work at a company where repetitive admin is automated out of existence and every process is simple, scalable and AI-native by default. You'll report to our Senior People Partner and work with everyone here, from a new joiner on day one to the CEO, who cares deeply about our culture.

What you'll be doing

  • Own the full employee lifecycle: contracts, right-to-work, starter and leaver logistics, probations and changes. Shape the first day and first week alongside managers.
  • Be the first point of contact for people queries and audits. Own the People inbox and core HR templates, and drive every query to resolution.
  • Own the HRIS (HiBob) and people data: records, workflows, surveys and data integrity. Deliver monthly People reporting and metrics that spot and close gaps early.
  • Own payroll input end to end: collate, calculate and submit each month, including bonuses and comp changes. Manage the provider and partner with Finance on reporting and year-end.
  • Own benefits end to end as the main contact for providers, systems, data and employee advice, keeping policies and materials current.
  • Run the office environment: building management, health and safety as a trained First Aider and Fire Marshal, and fast hardware provisioning.
  • Own the company social calendar and rituals, from Flock o'Clock to Town Halls and larger events, keeping them engaging and on budget.
  • Cut manual effort across the lifecycle by building AI-native workflows, so every routine people process is automated by default, then coach the business to use them.
  • Partner with IT on joiner and leaver access automation, and on cost and data audits.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer β€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you'll need

  • Hands-on People or HR Operations experience, ideally in a fast-moving scale-up, with real ownership of end-to-end processes. CIPD or equivalent experience required.
  • Hands-on payroll input and benefits administration. HiBob experience is a plus.
  • Strong HRIS skills across workflows, automations and integrations, plus confident data and spreadsheet ability.
  • Real evidence of building with AI: workflows or tools you've shipped and use, not ones you've only read about.
  • Exceptional organisation and judgement. You spot what needs doing and get ahead of it, you build the credibility that lets you influence without leaning on authority, and you treat confidential matters with discretion.
  • A quick, first-principles learner who is comfortable with pace, ambiguity and autonomy.

Making the world quantifiably safer takes more than good data. It takes a team where different perspectives are heard, and that's a priority here. We insure fleets and drivers from every background, and we know a team built the same way makes sharper decisions and a better product for our customers. So we hire on merit, full stop, and we actively encourage applications from everyone. If you don't tick every box, apply anyway. Just come as your genuine self: the qualities and experiences only you bring are exactly what we want.
