Location: Rockliffe, Darlington
Salary: £37,132 per annum
Hours: Fulltime - 40 hours per week
Reporting to: People Business Partner
Responsible for: People Team Assistant, People Advisor
Join Our People Team at Rockliffe
This is an exciting time to join Rockliffe as our People Operations Manager, following significant investment and as we refresh and strengthen our approach to People. You’ll play an important role in helping us create a great working experience for every colleague.
Working closely with our People Business Partner and wider People Team, you’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of People operations, ensuring colleagues and managers receive a responsive, professional and genuinely supportive service throughout recruitment, onboarding and the wider employment journey.
We’re looking for someone with strong HR operational knowledge and a real passion for people. You’ll enjoy getting the detail right, improving how things work and building positive relationships across the business. Most importantly, you’ll recognise that behind every process, policy and system is a colleague who deserves a great experience.
What you will be doing
As People Operations Manager, you will take responsibility for the smooth and effective delivery of people processes throughout the employee lifecycle, including:
- Helping our People Team deliver a friendly, responsive and high-quality service to colleagues and managers every day
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and the wider colleague journey, helping to create a great experience from day one
- Keeping our People processes running smoothly, including colleague records, payroll liaison, benefits and People systems
- Being a trusted and approachable source of advice for managers on employee relations, absence, policies and everyday People matters
- Helping to make sure our People practices are fair, consistent and compliant with employment legislation and our policies
- Taking care of confidential colleague information, ensuring our records and People data are accurate and up to date
- Building positive relationships with colleagues, managers, leaders and our external partners
- Spotting opportunities to make things simpler, better and more efficient, and helping us continually improve how we work
- Playing an active part in creating a healthy, safe, supportive and inclusive workplace where colleagues can thrive
- Working closely with the wider People Team to bring People initiatives to life and support the priorities of the business and line manage a People Advisor and People Team Apprentice

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an experienced People professional who is approachable, organised and confident working in a busy operational environment.
You will ideally bring:
- Good generalist HR and People operations experience with a minimum of CIPD Level 5 or working towards
- Experience supporting managers with employee relations and the employee lifecycle
- Strong knowledge of People processes, policies, systems and employment practices
- Experience of payroll liaison and employee benefits
- Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with confidential colleague information
- A genuine commitment to providing a great colleague experience
