People Operations Specialist

Location: Manchester

Contract: Full Time/Permanent

Working Pattern: Hybrid (2 Days Per Week Onsite)

Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys being at the heart of the employee experience? We are looking for a People Operations Specialist to join our team and play a key role in delivering a proactive, people-focused HR service across the organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working across a broad range of HR activities; from employee relations and payroll to learning & development, engagement and people analytics.

Responsibilities

As our People Operations Specialist, you will:

  • Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on policies, procedures and UK employment legislation.
  • Support employee relations cases, including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, performance and probation processes.
  • Coordinate learning and development activities, helping identify training needs and supporting employee development initiatives.
  • Support employee engagement, wellbeing initiatives and internal people communications.
  • Act as the primary backup for payroll, ensuring employee changes, benefits, leave, overtime and payroll information are processed accurately.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring data integrity and GDPR compliance.
  • Produce HR reports and analyse people metrics, including recruitment, turnover, absence and training data.
  • Build strong relationships with managers, employees and other stakeholders, providing a professional and responsive HR service.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and contribute to wider People projects.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to colleagues, encouraging best practice and collaborative working.
  • Support organisational change initiatives, including TUPE transfers where required.
  • Take on other People-related responsibilities and projects as required.

Who you are?

You’ll ideally have:

  • CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a People Operations, HR Advisor or HR Generalist role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting TUPE transfers and organisational change.
  • Experience with payroll processes and HR administration.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using HR information systems.

Experience working in a multi-site or international organisation would be advantageous. Additional language skills would also be desirable.
