You’ll provide full line management to the People Operations Coordinators, supporting their performance, attendance, wellbeing, development and probation, while creating a positive, inclusive and accountable team culture.
You’ll also work closely with colleagues across People, including People Advisory, Payroll, Resourcing and People Vetting and Compliance, to provide a joined-up service to managers and colleagues across Nacro.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead, manage and develop the People Operations Coordinator team, setting clear objectives and expectations and providing regular feedback, coaching and support.
- Allocate and prioritise workloads, balancing capacity, service standards, payroll deadlines and planned or unplanned absence.
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of employee lifecycle activity, including onboarding, contractual changes, leave, absence-related administration and offboarding.
- Provide hands-on support with complex or non-standard transactions during periods of high demand or service disruption.
- Ensure managers and colleagues receive accurate and consistent first-line guidance on Nacro’s People policies and standard processes.
- Coordinate the People Operations elements of the monthly payroll timetable, ensuring payroll-impacting activity is completed and checked within agreed deadlines.
- Investigate payroll discrepancies and recurring errors, working closely with Payroll and People colleagues to resolve issues and reduce avoidable rework.
- Lead quality assurance activity, including file checks, peer reviews and sample audits, ensuring errors are identified and corrected promptly.
- Monitor compliance with procedures, data protection requirements, record-keeping standards and operational controls.
- Maintain accurate operational procedures, process documentation and control records to support consistent service delivery.
- Use HR systems and operational data to monitor workloads, backlogs, errors, trends and service performance.
- Coach and develop team members, identifying development needs and supporting continuous improvement in team capability.
- Act as a People Operations super-user for the HR system, supporting colleagues with processes and systems and working with People Systems and Data colleagues to resolve issues.
- Support audit, assurance and data subject access request activities, ensuring information is accurate, complete and provided within required timescale.
- Identify opportunities to improve People Operations processes, workflows and the employee and manager experience.
- Support the implementation of agreed system, workflow and process improvements and coordinate assigned operational improvement projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
