Based in Poplar 3-4 days a week with some travel to Beckton
Up to £253.21 per day

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join a leading organisation as People Partner operating within a complex, unionised environment. This role will play a key part in supporting operational leaders, driving people initiatives, and providing expert guidance across a broad range of HR matters.
The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to managers and stakeholders, partnering closely with the business to deliver effective people solutions, manage complex employee relations matters, and support organisational change.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders to deliver people strategies aligned to organisational objectives.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management, and organisational change.
- Build strong relationships with trade unions and support constructive industrial relations activity.
- Lead and support complex casework, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, policies, and best practice.
- Support organisational design and change management initiatives.
- Work with managers to improve employee engagement, performance, and retention.
- Contribute to talent management and succession planning activities.
- Support recruitment and workforce planning requirements across operational teams.
- Promote inclusion, wellbeing, and a positive employee experience.
- Ensure HR processes, systems, and records are maintained accurately and efficiently.

About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR professional with a strong background in partnering with operational leaders within a fast-paced and complex environment.
Essential requirements:
- Proven experience as a People Partner, HR Business Partner, or equivalent senior HR role.
- Strong employee relations experience, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive cases independently.
- Demonstrable experience working with trade unions and managing industrial relations issues.
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting organisational change and transformation initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to balance strategic partnering with operational HR support.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience).

- Experience within heavily unionised operational environments.
- Experience of job evaluation methodologies such as Korn Ferry.
- Familiarity with HR systems and people analytics.
