Role Description
This full-time People Partner role is a hybrid position based in the Greater Portsmouth Area, with flexibility for some work from home. The People Partner will provide day-to-day HR support to school leaders and staff, including advising on employee relations, case management, and HR policies and procedures. The role will involve partnering with headteachers and senior leaders on workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies. The People Partner will also support performance management, professional development, and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring consistent, fair, and inclusive practices across the Trust. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate HR records, contributing to HR projects and continuous improvement, and supporting the implementation of Trust-wide people strategies and compliance with relevant employment legislation.

Qualifications

- Experience in HR partnering or advisory roles, including employee relations, casework, and policy interpretation.
- Skills in recruitment and selection, onboarding, and workforce planning within multi-site or complex organisations.
- Ability to support performance management, learning and development, and staff wellbeing initiatives.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with leaders and staff.
- Excellent organisation, time management, and attention to detail, including accurate HR record-keeping and data handling.
- Working knowledge of employment law, safeguarding responsibilities in an education setting, and HR best practice.
- Proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office or similar tools; ability to analyse and report HR data.
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in education or public sector environments is an advantage.
