People Partner | Pioneering Medical Institute | £60k-66k | Permanent | 3 days PW in London

This People Partner role is an opportunity to join a world-renowned biomedical research institute at an exciting time as it launches its new people strategy. Working within a collaborative and fast-paced People team, you will partner with senior leaders across a varied portfolio spanning scientific research, operational teams, and legal.

This is a strategic partnering role where relationship building, influencing, and problem-solving are key. You will act as a critical friend to leaders, helping them navigate complex people issues while working closely with specialist teams across recruitment, learning and development, and wider people initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders across science, operations, and professional teams.
  • Act as a trusted coach and sounding board, providing constructive challenge and pragmatic people solutions.
  • Partner with specialist People teams to deliver initiatives across talent, succession, engagement, and organizational development.
  • Lead and develop People Advisors, ensuring clear separation between strategic partnering and day-to-day advisory activity.
  • Use people data and insight to support decision-making and drive change.
  • Manage complex and sensitive employee relations matters, resource planning, and organizational change.
  • Support new Group Leaders and laboratories joining the organization.
  • Lead People projects and identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

Person Specification

  • Strong experience in a People Partner, HR Business Partner, or similar generalist HR role.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge senior leaders.
  • Pragmatic and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt solutions rather than apply policy rigidly.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practice and employment law.
  • Experience delivering people initiatives such as talent, succession planning, or engagement.
  • Proactive, energetic, and comfortable working at pace within a complex organization.
  • Experience managing or developing others would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience within academia or scientific research is not essential. They are looking for someone with strong partnering experience who can build credibility quickly, adapt their approach to different stakeholders, and move things forward.
