Contract: Fixed Term Contract - Maternity Cover
KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE
The People Partner will provide effective partnership to managers and Heads of Department across the Club, providing advice, guidance and support across a broad range of people matters. This includes employee relations, talent and performance management, recruitment and onboarding, organisational change and employee development.
Alongside these partnering responsibilities, the People Partner will oversee the effective delivery of the Club’s People Operations activity and line manage the People Operations Specialist. This includes ensuring that core people processes, systems, administration and employee lifecycle activities are delivered efficiently, consistently and to a high standard.
KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
People Partnering
- Provide advice, guidance and coaching to managers on a wide range of people matters, supporting effective decision-making and people management.
- Develop strong relationships across the Club, understanding departmental priorities, challenges and workforce requirements.
- Review people data and reporting to identify trends and support informed decision-making.
- Support departments through periods of change, providing guidance to managers and employees throughout the process.
- Partner with managers on recruitment requirements and hiring decisions, ensuring fair and inclusive recruitment practices.
Employee Relations (ER)
- Provide advice and guidance on a range of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and flexible working cases.
- Lead on employee relations matters, ensuring a fair, consistent and legally compliant approach.
- Support managers in addressing people issues promptly and effectively.
- Ensure employee relations matters are managed in line with Club policies, procedures and employment legislation.
- Identify trends and themes arising from employee relations matters and work with managers to address issues proactively.

Performance, Talent & Development
- Support managers in managing performance, capability and development across their teams.
- Work with managers to identify, develop and retain talent, including succession planning for key roles.
- Support the delivery of the Club's performance review process and other people initiatives.
- Encourage regular and effective performance and development conversations between managers and employees.
- Support learning and development opportunities that enhance individual and team performance.
Culture & Engagement
- Support initiatives that promote employee engagement, wellbeing, retention and a positive workplace culture.
- Work with managers and employees to review engagement survey results, explore key themes through feedback sessions and focus groups, and develop actions that support employee engagement and retention.
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion across all people-related activities.
People Operations
- Line manage the People Operations Specialist and provide support, guidance and direction as required.
- Oversee the delivery of People Operations activities, ensuring a high-quality service is provided across the employee lifecycle.
- Maintain oversight of payroll-related people changes, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of any issues.
- Ensure appropriate standards of compliance, confidentiality and data integrity are maintained.
Projects
- Lead or support People projects, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the delivery of the Club's People Strategy.
VARIATIONS OF JOB RELATING TO MAJOR MATCHES
- Attendance at all major match-days, including weekends, as required.
- Any other duties, whether in the Department or elsewhere around the Ground, as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS – SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Proven experience in a generalist HR or People Partner role, with strong employee relations and case management experience.
- Sound knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and support managers at all levels.
- Experience of coaching and advising managers on a broad range of people matters, including performance, development and employee relations.
- Experience of using HR systems, people data and reporting to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Resilient, organised and solutions-focused, with strong judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities.
