The opportunity

Build your future with Ibstock. With more than 200 years of history and over 1,800 colleagues, we are a business loaded with opportunity. Our values of care, teamwork, and courage guide how we work, support one another and deliver for our customers.

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially-minded People Partner (Manager Support) to partner with leaders and managers across our UK operations and support functions.

This is a hands-on role focused on turning people and workforce plans into practical action. You’ll work alongside factory and functional managers to strengthen leadership capability, embed effective people practices, and support organisational change. Through your coaching, advice, and challenge, you’ll help managers create a consistent and positive employee experience while improving engagement, performance, retention, and productivity.

This role supports leaders across both our operational and SG&A functions, combining hands-on partnership with managers and collaboration with People Centres of Expertise to deliver effective people solutions, build capability, and support business priorities.

What you’ll do

Partnering with leaders

  • Build trusted relationships with operational and functional leaders, providing practical, commercially focused people advice.
  • Coach, advise, and constructively challenge managers to strengthen leadership effectiveness and team capability.

Delivering people and workforce plans

  • Translate people and workforce plans into clear, practical actions for leaders and managers.
  • Implement talent, performance, succession, and employee engagement initiatives.

Building organisational capability

  • Identify learning and capability needs and work with People Centres of Expertise to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Support managers with performance management, team development, career pathways, resource planning, and recruitment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
