People and Performance Manager

We're looking for an experienced, commercially minded People and Performance Manager to join our People team in Peterborough.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic HR professional who thrives on building strong relationships, driving positive change and influencing business performance through people. Working closely with the Head of People Operations, Partners, Managing Partners and senior leaders, you'll play a key role in delivering an outstanding people experience across the Firm.

You'll act as a trusted adviser to leaders, providing expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, organisational development and workforce planning. Beyond supporting day-to-day people matters, you'll have the opportunity to shape and deliver initiatives that strengthen engagement, develop talent, champion inclusion and wellbeing, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

Leading and developing a dedicated People Operations team, you'll help ensure our people practices not only support our employees but also contribute to the Firm's wider strategic objectives.

Main Tasks

  • Lead, coach and develop the People Administrator and People Advisor, ensuring a high-quality and consistent People service across the Firm.
  • Drive People Operations projects that enhance processes, improve the employee experience and support business growth.
  • Support the implementation and governance of Innovation Boards, helping people-focused initiatives move from idea to impact.
  • Lead our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) and wellbeing strategies, working closely with colleagues across the business to deliver meaningful and lasting change.
  • Partner with the People and Performance Director to deliver employee engagement initiatives, analyse feedback and strengthen employee voice.
  • Work with Managing Partners and leadership teams to create people plans that align with business priorities and workforce needs.
  • Act as a trusted adviser on complex employee relations matters, providing pragmatic and commercially focused solutions.
  • Coach managers and leaders on performance management, accountability, feedback and employee development.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Development team on succession planning, leadership development and talent retention initiatives.
  • Lead and support organisational change projects, helping teams navigate change successfully and effectively.
  • Analyse people data and HR metrics to identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing insights that drive informed decision-making.
  • Work closely with Reward & Benefits colleagues to support reward processes, pay reviews and retention strategies.
  • Build strong relationships throughout the Firm, ensuring a collaborative and consistent approach to people matters.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, HR best practice and internal policies.

What will it take to be successful?

You'll be a confident and credible HR professional who enjoys partnering with senior stakeholders and making a real impact through people.

You'll also bring:

  • Level 7 CIPD qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant generalist HR experience, including complex employee relations, policy application and process improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practice and risk management.
  • Proven experience influencing, coaching and advising senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and developing team members to deliver exceptional internal service.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to translate business priorities into practical people solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using people data and metrics to inform decisions and recommendations.
  • Experience using HR systems and digital tools to enhance service delivery and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Professionalism, resilience and discretion when managing sensitive situations.
  • A passion for creating an inclusive, engaging and high-performing workplace culture.
