Summary
The People Services Advisor is a critical role within the local authority, providing expert employee relations support to managers and staff throughout the organization. This position involves delivering professional advice on employment issues, performance management, policy implementation, and organizational change, ensuring adherence to employment laws and best practices. The role is essential in fostering positive employee relations, enhancing people management skills, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Offer specialized advice and guidance on employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, capability, attendance, and performance management.
- Handle a diverse caseload of complex HR issues, ensuring timely and policy-compliant resolutions.
- Assist managers during formal hearings, investigations, consultations, and employee meetings.
- Provide advice on employment legislation, terms and conditions, policies, and best practices.
- Support organizational change initiatives, such as restructures, redundancies, TUPE transfers, and consultation processes.
- Develop effective working relationships with managers, employees, trade unions, and key stakeholders.

Requirements:
- Experience in providing HR advice and support across a wide range of employee relations issues.
- Proven experience in managing complex disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance cases.
- Experience in advising managers on the application of employment policies and procedures.
- Experience in supporting organizational change activities, including restructures and consultations.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent HR qualification) or significant relevant HR experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.

Additional Information
- Working hours are 37 hours per week.
- Main base is Friargate, with potential travel to different Council locations. Remote work is available for 2 days per week.
- The role operates on a bi-weekly payment schedule.
- The position is a 3-month contract with a rate of £26.93 per hour umbrella.
