Role Overview
Are you an HR or People professional who enjoys giving practical advice, keeping processes on track and helping managers handle workplace matters fairly?
At HGS, you will be an initial point of contact for managers and employees, supporting routine employee relations matters and day-to-day People processes. You will provide clear guidance, maintain accurate records, prepare professional documentation and help ensure policies are applied consistently. This is a varied role covering attendance, probation, performance, flexible working, grievances and disciplinary processes. You will need sound judgement, discretion and strong attention to detail, along with the confidence to identify risk and escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately. You will also support People reporting, recruitment administration, onboarding, induction, manager training and improvements to People processes. If you are organised, approachable and comfortable balancing casework with accurate administration, we would like to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
