Learning & Development (L&D) Team Lead (UK) FTC - Maternity Cover

About the Role

As the Learning & Development (L&D) Team Lead, you will provide daily leadership of the People Services L&D team. You will work with the wider L&D COE and People Services to maintain delivery service and progress important priorities. You will focus on team leadership, workload and resource planning, project oversight, stakeholder partnership, and supporting the continued development of the People Services L&D operating model.

You will also provide oversight of L&D systems and escalations, working in partnership with the L&D COE and subject matter experts. You will operate remotely and report to the HR Shared Service Centre Lead - EMEA.

Here's What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the People Services L&D support team, ensuring accurate, and high-quality task delivery.
  • Balance resources, skills, and workload to optimize team performance and ensure delivery of priorities.
  • Forecast and plan with key stakeholders to support resourcing, workload balance, and delivery of the L&D plan.
  • Lead and deliver L&D projects aligned with People Services & COE strategy and business transformation initiatives, including oversight of strategic and complex projects and audiences.
  • Partner closely with People Services, L&D COE colleagues, and other stakeholders to deliver cross-functional initiatives and shared success.
  • Provide coaching support to team members to uphold quality, consistency, and capability.
  • Be the escalation point for complex issues raised by the team, ensuring appropriate resolution and knowledge transfer.
  • Adapt to evolving priorities and provide flexible support where needed, working collaboratively with the wider People Services and L&D function.
  • Drive continuous improvement in L&D processes, technology, automation, and digital efficiency in partnership with the L&D COE and People Services team.
  • Lead enhancements to L&D systems, processes, and procedures to improve scalability and effectiveness, working with relevant subject matter experts.
  • Ensure effective use of systems such as the LMS and Workday, including data accuracy, reporting, adoption, and issue resolution, with specialist support available where required.
  • Oversee system functionality reviews, process optimization, and scalable workflows in partnership with People Services, L&D COE, and relevant system stakeholders.
  • Support the ongoing LMS strategy, including changes, enhancements, and cross-functional input into system design and priorities.
  • Support learning evaluation and training catalogue reviews to ensure programmes remain relevant, impactful, and aligned to organizational goals, working with the wider L&D team on delivery.
  • Provide oversight and governance for Group/COE initiatives, including compliance and enterprise-wide programmes, and maintain appropriate reporting and management information.
  • Oversee the ServiceNow queue and workflow to ensure service standards are maintained, while supporting process documentation, training guides, self-service, and knowledge sharing.

About You:

  • Background in Learning & Development, HR, or Shared Services with prior experience of team or people management in a complex global organization.
  • Experience working within a L&D Matrix / Shared Services model.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and coach a remote team while managing workload and competing priorities.
  • Experience leading L&D projects and working effectively with COE and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Planning, prioritization, and service delivery skills, with the ability to manage workflows and resources effectively.
  • 5+ years of experience improving operational efficiency and good governance in a complex environment.
  • Experience working with LMS and HR systems such as Workday, with the ability to oversee enhancements and resolve issues through appropriate SMEs.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with confidence working at all levels of the organization.
  • Confident using data and reporting to monitor performance, participation, outcomes, and service delivery.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and collaborative, with a practical and forward-thinking approach to L&D service delivery.
