Job Description
About the Role
Sitting within Regional Operations, this role is at the heart of how we understand and improve performance - bringing together complex data from across our operational systems, analysing it to find what matters, and visualising it so field and regional Leaders can act with confidence. The successful candidate(s) will work with the leadership team to identify, highlight and improve performance opportunities - enabling us to deliver an ever-improving service to our customers.
We're the people who manage the electricity network that powers everyday life for more than 8 million people across 3.9 million homes and businesses in the North-East, Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships across Regional Operations and the wider business to understand roles, processes, information needs and performance priorities.
- Bring together, clean, organise and validate complex data from multiple operational systems, creating consistent and trusted datasets.
- Develop and maintain automated, scheduled data flows and refreshes, reducing reliance on manual exports and repetitive data handling.
- Analyse data to identify trends, anomalies, root causes, inefficiencies and opportunities to improve operational performance.
- Design and maintain fit-for-purpose Power BI dashboards, KPIs and visual reports that field and regional leaders can use confidently.
- Work with field leadership to understand the roles they manage and develop meaningful measures for monitoring performance.
- Observe and review operational processes and ways of working, identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and improve them.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate operational requirements and insight into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Support regular performance and regulatory reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency and auditability, and track whether agreed actions deliver results.

Key Competencies
- Demonstrable applied technical capability in data analysis, programming or automation, evidenced through employment, education or substantial projects.
- Strong capability across a range of relevant tools and languages, such as SQL, Python, Power Query, Power BI and Power Automate. Expert-level mastery of every platform is not expected, but candidates should demonstrate meaningful technical depth and the versatility to work across multiple technologies.
- Ability to extract, combine, clean, transform and validate complex data from multiple systems, and to develop reliable, automated and repeatable data processes.
- Strong logical and creative problem-solving skills, with the confidence to investigate unfamiliar data, test different approaches and identify trends, anomalies, root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Ability to translate operational requirements into practical dashboards, KPIs and analytical outputs that leaders can use confidently.
- Strong attention to detail and a clear understanding of data quality, validation, accuracy and reliable reporting.
- Ability to build effective working relationships, explain technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, take ownership and demonstrate a strong commitment to continued learning and development.
Essential Qualifications & Attributes
- Demonstrable applied technical capability in data analysis, programming or automation, developed through employment, education or substantial projects.
- Evidence of delivering a technically complex data solution from an initial problem through to a reliable, usable output.
- Practical experience extracting, combining, cleaning, transforming and validating data from multiple sources.
- Strong capability across a relevant combination of tools and languages, such as SQL, Python, Power Query, Power BI and Power Automate.
- Experience developing dashboards, automated reporting or repeatable data processes that support operational decision-making.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including investigating unfamiliar data, identifying root causes and developing practical solutions.
- Ability to understand stakeholder requirements and communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
- High standards of accuracy, ownership and data quality, with the initiative to work independently and continue developing.

Desirable Qualifications & Attributes
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience; technical certification or professional development is also welcomed.
- Experience in utilities, infrastructure or another complex operational environment.
- Exposure to field-based operations and an understanding of frontline leadership information needs.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting or data governance requirements.
- Experience reviewing and improving operational processes or ways of working.
- Experience supporting the adoption of dashboards, automated reporting or analytical tools.
Benefits
- Competitive salary between £45,000 - £55,000
- Enrolment into our pension scheme
- Annual bonus of up to 10%
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising with length of service.
