Role Overview

You will be joining the Strategic Performance, Intelligence and Risk service which is responsible for driving high-quality data and reporting products to support evidence-led decision making for Dorset Council and providing value for money services to residents.

What's in it for you:

  • Working in collaboration with colleagues in the Sustainability team, you'll have the opportunity to evidence and provide insights into how Dorset Council is working towards delivery of one of our strategic priorities, "Respond to the climate and nature crisis", by delivering reporting products and analytical insight based on good quality data and evidence.
  • You’ll be working in a vibrant team that share your values and understand the importance of good quality data.
  • You’ll be given the opportunity to work collaboratively within this dedicated team, and others from across the authority, as well as the autonomy to deliver using your own initiative (backed through supportive leadership).

What can you expect to be doing:

As a council we have a responsibility to be open and transparent in how we are performing against our priorities and objectives. This is underpinned by the need for good quality data, reporting products, and insights.

  • You will be leading on performance reporting and monitoring for the Council's climate and nature programme, turning sustainability data into clear insights and reporting.
  • The post will play a key role in helping us track progress, and support evidence-led decision making, against our climate and ecological commitments, including providing meaningful performance information to the Climate and Nature Delivery Board, Senior Leaders, and Elected Members.
  • You'll have the opportunity to work with officers and systems from across the council to ensure data is collected and reported in a consistent manner and translated into meaningful reporting products and insights.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
