A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Performance Engineer within the Siemens Energy Performance Group in Lincoln, you will help assess, predict and improve the performance of Small Gas Turbine products. Your work will support production pass-off testing, development testing, site performance predictions and the ongoing enhancement of performance analysis tools.
You will work within a specialist engineering team that provides performance and thermodynamic expertise to Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering and Customer Support. Day to day, you may be validating engine test results, refining performance models, analysing large datasets, supporting R&D validation tests or contributing technical input to customer bids and proposals.
This role is well suited to someone with a strong background in mathematics, physics, thermodynamics, programming or data analysis who wants to develop specialist expertise in gas turbine performance. Gas turbine experience is not essential, as training will be provided, but an interest in turbomachinery, modelling and engineering analysis would be highly beneficial.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Assess engine performance and validate results from production pass-off tests, development tests and site testing activities.
- Predict installed site performance for Siemens Energy Small Gas Turbine products and support performance input into sales proposals and customer bids.
- Carry out thermodynamic and performance calculations, refine engine models and support R&D validation testing.
- Analyse large technical datasets and apply statistical methods to monitor production engine performance and investigate trends or anomalies.
- Support the development, automation and enhancement of performance assessment tools, prediction methods and supporting software.
- Work with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, Customer Support and R&D teams to communicate performance findings clearly and support technical decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
