Performance Engineer - Benchmarking

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Performance Engineer - Benchmarking based in the United Kingdom.

Join a forward-thinking engineering environment where performance, reliability, and scalability are at the center of product development. In this role, you will design and improve benchmarking systems that help teams understand, measure, and optimize complex distributed systems. You will build the tools, methodologies, and processes needed to identify regressions, analyze performance changes, and deliver trusted insights. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will have the opportunity to shape a growing performance function from the ground up. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building impactful tooling, and making performance excellence a core engineering practice.

Accountabilities

  • Build and continuously improve benchmarking, profiling, and load-testing systems across cloud infrastructure, databases, and end-to-end environments.
  • Design benchmark suites and reference workloads that accurately represent real-world customer usage patterns and evolve alongside product development.
  • Establish performance baselines, regression detection systems, and measurement frameworks to identify meaningful changes and ensure reliable results.
  • Develop workflows that transform benchmark data into actionable insights, including regression triage, ownership routing, and reproducible performance reports.
  • Collaborate closely with database, infrastructure, and product engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and drive measurable performance improvements.
  • Create systems that enable teams to run performance tests independently and integrate benchmarking into development workflows.
  • Improve the reliability of load generators, benchmark environments, profiling processes, and performance analysis methods.
  • Help communicate credible performance metrics internally and externally through accurate, repeatable measurement practices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
