Performance Manager, CB Intermediaries & Specialist Lending

Salary: Competitive package available

Location(s): London or Birmingham

Hours: Full-time

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our office in London or Birmingham.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and growing part of Business & Commercial Banking. The Intermediaries and Specialist Lending business offers a wide range of innovative finance solutions to clients across our segments and specialist sectors through expert Business Development Managers.

As the Performance Manager, you'll be a trusted partner to the Head of Intermediaries & Specialist Lending (MD), providing strategic, operational, and governance support to enable the successful delivery of business priorities across a £1bn+ lending channel.

You'll act as the commercial performance lead for the Intermediaries & Specialist Lending business, which includes Term Lending, Asset Finance, and Invoice Finance specialisms, and Direct Relationship Management. Supporting leadership in the execution of strategic initiatives, business planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, governance, colleague engagement, and change delivery related to performance. Working closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders across the business, the Performance Manager helps ensure the effective operation of the business while driving continuous improvement for colleagues, brokers, and customers.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Work closely with Head of Intermediaries & Specialist Lending to deliver the strategy, key enablers, and initiatives to drive commercial performance across the balanced scorecard.
  • Work in close conjunction with Head of Intermediaries on new initiatives to drive growth, including assessing the impact of opportunities, researching and framing business cases, and supporting change delivery across the Intermediaries business, owning key deliverables.
  • Analyzing trends on key Performance lines (using data from a wide range of sources) to provide support to Head of Intermediaries on performance of individuals / teams / products / line across our specialisms and geographies. Using data to provide regular feedback as to the "quality" and "effectiveness" to drive overall productivity across all teams.
  • Work in close conjunction with the team Heads to ensure timely and effective sharing of performance management information and influence action taking to improve outcomes. Identify trends and opportunities to Head of Intermediaries to support enhanced results.
  • Manage the lending pipeline and balance sheet forecasting, driving accuracy down to Business Development Manager level, and supporting the enablement of key deals through engagement with Lending Operations to enhance outcomes.
  • Support the Head of Intermediaries in the execution of the Intermediaries Broker engagement strategy, Switcher strategy, and growth agenda - by owning action plans and following through for execution.
  • Maintain an external lens on news and activities relevant to the Broker community to be shared with internal stakeholders as a window on the competitive landscape.
  • Maintain ownership of the Leadership Operating rhythm including champion roles, regular Board (run the bank) and Change the Bank forums to support the delivery of the strategic plan.
  • Drive a Continuous improvement culture across the Intermediaries and Specialist Lending business, identifying simplification and owning delivery in partnership with the wider team.
  • Role model all SME professional standards and tools, being able to support and challenge their use, ensuring that Intermediaries is able to make full use of new tooling, e.g., CRM.
  • Ensure activities align with internal and external policies, standards, reporting, legal, statutory, and/or regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience delivering results and driving performance growth in a commercial setting.
  • Experience using sales and performance data (both at individual, sales channel, and product level) from multiple sources to assess business, product, and colleague performance (including pricing behaviors), providing clear recommendations that drive improved commercial outcomes and operational effectiveness.
  • A growth mindset and be an ambassador for change to enhance both colleague and broker experience.
  • Exceptional partner management skills with the ability to work closely with key partners across the group and maintain positive relationships to help deliver our objectives.
  • Ability to communicate, present, and influence effectively.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize many varied tasks simultaneously, working confidently in a fast-paced environment.
