Performance Manager – Workplace and Online Proposition
Turn data into commercial growth for one of the British Council’s most exciting digital learning portfolios
We are looking for a commercially minded Performance Manager to help shape the future of our Workplace and Online proposition — a growing portfolio of digital and workplace-focused English learning and assessment solutions used by individuals and organisations around the world.
This is a high-impact role for someone who loves using data to answer big business questions: Where are we growing? What is working? Where should we invest? How do we price, prioritise and improve our products so that they deliver stronger commercial results and better customer outcomes?
You will work at the heart of a cross-functional proposition team, partnering with senior stakeholders across product, marketing, sales, finance, operations, customer service and data. Your insights will directly inform performance conversations, pricing decisions, investment cases, product development, marketing activity and long-term portfolio planning.
If you are a strong analyst who wants to move beyond reporting into real commercial influence, this role offers the chance to make your work visible, strategic and genuinely impactful.
Why this role matters
The British Council’s English and Exams business is evolving rapidly, with digital learning, online delivery and workplace solutions playing an increasingly important role in future growth. The Performance Manager will help us build a clearer, more connected view of performance across products, customers, channels and markets — and turn that insight into action.
- You will define and monitor the KPIs that help leaders make better decisions.
- You will connect data from CRM, financial, marketing and product platforms to create a richer picture of performance.
- You will identify opportunities to improve customer acquisition, engagement, retention, pricing and profitability.
- You will help proposition teams prioritise what matters most — commercially, operationally and strategically.
What You Will Do
- Create clear, compelling insights that support strategic and commercial decision-making.
- Build, commission and improve dashboards and reports for senior stakeholders.
- Work with finance and proposition leaders on planning, forecasting, ROI, investment cases and benefit realisation.
- Support pricing strategy and cost analysis for products, tenders and new opportunities.
- Analyse customer, product, marketing and financial data to identify trends, risks and growth opportunities.
- Translate complex analysis into practical recommendations that non-specialist stakeholders can act on.
- Contribute to better data practices as the organisation strengthens its data architecture, governance and planning processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
