About the company
SM92 is one of the fastest growing full-service marketing agencies based in the UK with an in-house team of 20+ marketing professionals, specialising in lead generation in a variety of sectors including care, franchising and private security. We're a young agency with big ambition and targets. As a small agency, you will be working in a fast-paced environment which will pull you into multiple areas of the business which require your support. This means you'll learn new skills and pick up experience a lot faster when compared to joining a larger agency.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Performance Marketing, the Performance Marketing Lead will take day-to-day ownership of the Performance team, translating departmental strategy into clear priorities and ensuring consistently high-quality delivery across our client portfolio. This is a hands-on, player-coach role. You will lead and develop a multi-level team of Performance Executives while remaining involved in selected client accounts, technical problem-solving and performance strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the team’s day-to-day workload, capacity and utilisation across competing client priorities.
- Identifying bottlenecks, delivery risks and resource gaps early, then agreeing clear actions to resolve them.
- Owning quality assurance processes, delivery standards and the early escalation of performance or client risks.
- Overseeing integrated performance activity across paid media, SEO, CRO, CRM and analytics.
- Ensuring campaigns are supported by clear measurement, structured testing and actionable insight.
- Acting as the first point of escalation for delivery issues, client concerns and account performance.
- Translating strategic direction into clear actions, ownership and deadlines for the team.
- Supporting team development through coaching, training, onboarding and effective delegation.
- Working closely with Account Management, Creative, Web and senior leadership to coordinate delivery.
- Improving team processes, documentation and the effective use of automation and AI.
- Remaining hands-on across selected accounts where senior technical or strategic input is required.
- Supporting the Head of Performance Marketing by taking ownership of operational delivery and acting as the team’s day-to-day decision-maker.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
